Mythical Creature Name: Tichem Country of origin (where he/she is from): Afreca Habitat: (what environment it lives in) In the heat on the plains of Africa it roams the grassy wide open spaces.It shelters in the cool,shady dampness of dark trees. The Tichem runs like the wind at 100 mph after its prey.It’s eyes glow brightlty in the darkness as it watches and waits for a delicious snack. Known stories about this creature: Stories are  told about a strange creature watching people in the village.They have seen his eyes glow and his strange monkey legs.

My Whanau Story

My Grandfather My grandfather, Hussein, is my hero. He tried to save Afghanistan from the Russians in the 1979 -1989 war. He was a spy with other Mujahideen  rebels to fight for a free Afghanistan. The Mujahideen are the people who fight against those who hate Islam. The Russians wanted to take over Afghanistan but the people fought hard to stop them. One day the Russians went house to house looking for spies.  They found my grandfather, his brother and their families. The Russian soldiers burst in and arrested Hussein and all the other men in the village.  Everyone was really, really frightened. They took them all away and executed them.  My grandfather and his brother never came home. My grandfather, Hussein, is my hero because he loved his country so much that he wanted it to be free.  He died for his country.  He was very brave and strong.
